Legionnaires’ Disease, caused by the bacteria, Legionella, is a serious disease that, if detected with this test, needs to be treated immediately.
Common sources of Legionella are:
- hot tubs
- showers
- air-conditioning units for large building (hotels etc.)
Symptoms include:
- high fever
- chills
- cough
- muscle aches
- headaches
Symptoms are very similar to the common flu so it is important to screen for Legionella.
