Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Blood Test

This test panel helps screen for and monitor polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Insulin, glucose, and HbA1C are used to monitor blood sugar since blood sugar stabilization is key in controlling PCOS.

We have also added vitamin D to our PCOS blood test because of the close correlation between PCOS and vitamin D deficiency.

Research shows that those with PCOS have a 3x greater chance of having an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s disease. Hashimoto’s, or “Hashi”, is a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy thyroid cells. This ends up creating a hypothyroid, or low thyroid, state. Therefore, we have included TPO and TGB antibodies along with this PCOS screening test.

Alternatively, you can screen for Hashimoto’s with our basic Hashimoto’s blood test.

Symptoms and signs of PCOS include:

  • Irregular periods or no periods
  • Painful or unusually heavy or light periods
  • Irregular or absent ovulation
  • Hirsutism (hair on the face, stomach, thighs, arms, breasts, etc.)
  • Alopecia (thinning hair or male pattern baldness)
  • High blood pressure
  • Infertility
  • Obesity (especially around the stomach)
  • Difficulty losing weight
  • Insulin resistance or hypoglycemia
  • Fatigue
  • Depression or SAD (seasonal affective disorder) due to a possible vitamin D deficiency
  • Mood swings, some women report feelings of anger or aggression
  • Acne
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Skin tags
  • Acanthosis nigricans (dark skin patches, often found on the nape of the neck, groin, under breasts)

comments: Liked how the requisition form was mostly filled out. Instructions easy to understand and follow. The price was probably the best around for Great Plains Testing

comments: Just FYI, My requisition email sat in my spam folder for 3 weeks. It would have been helpful when I purchased the test to make it clear that the requisition paper would be emailed as I was waiting for it to come through the postal service.

comments: I did have a problem checking out. So, I sent a message indicating this. The response was immediate. I was panicking. You know how we love a sale. The sale was held over for me to complete the transaction. P.S. The problem with the transaction was on my side.
