Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH), Plasma
The ACTH, Plasma test, checks a special hormone in the blood called ACTH. This hormone helps control stress and is made by the pituitary gland in your brain. The test is done by taking a small sample of the blood. Doctors use the results to understand how well the body handles stress, and it can help them figure out if there are any issues with the adrenal glands or other parts of the body that manage stress. This test is useful for finding problems like Addison’s disease or Cushing’s syndrome and helps in taking care of the overall health.

- Blood samples must be drawn between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. If drawn at any other time, the reference ranges do not apply.
