Safety Advisory
The liquid inside the specimen vial should not come into contact with your skin or eyes. If it does:
- For eye exposure: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes.
- For skin contact: Wash thoroughly with soap and water.
- If swallowed: Seek immediate medical attention.
Instructions for Collecting Your Stool Sample
Reminder: Read all guidelines and confirm you have all required items before beginning. Do not stop taking prescribed medication unless instructed by your doctor.

Step 1 – Label the Specimen Vial
Clearly write your full name, date of birth, and the date of collection on the specimen vial label.
Step 2 – Prepare for Collection
If possible, urinate before collecting your stool sample to help prevent contamination. Put on the gloves and use the collection tray provided.
Step 3 – Transfer Stool Sample
Using the attached spoon, gather stool from at least four separate areas and transfer it into the vial.
Important: Fill the vial slightly above the indicated fill line, but do not overfill. Make sure the cap can close securely without overflow. Do not remove or discard the pink liquid in the vial.
Step 4 – Mix and Secure
Stir the sample and liquid thoroughly using the spoon attached to the cap. Then securely tighten the cap and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
Step 5 – Package the Sample
- Fill out the Test Request Form, making sure the collection date and payment details are completed.
- Insert the completed form into the designated document pocket of the specimen bag.
- Place the sealed specimen vial and absorbent pad into the resealable specimen bag and seal it completely.
- Put the sealed specimen bag and completed Test Request Form inside the collection kit box.
- Use the included FedEx Clinical Pak Mailer to return the kit.
Reminder: The sample must arrive at the lab within 10 days of collection. If immediate shipping is not possible, store the sample in a refrigerator and send it within 3 days.
Kit Shipping Instructions
Shipping Schedule: Samples can be shipped Monday through Friday. Make sure the specimen vial is tightly closed and the Test Request Form is fully completed.
USA Shipping Process
To arrange for FedEx pickup, call 1-800-463-3339:
- When prompted, say “Schedule a pickup.”
- If asked whether your label has “Stamp” on it, respond “Yes.”
- Keep your tracking number for reference.
You may also drop off your package at any FedEx store or FedEx Drop Box. Make sure the drop box is scheduled for pickup the same or next day.
GI Map Shipping Instructions For Canada and Other USA Territories
- Complete your name, address, phone number, and signature fields on the three commercial invoices and waybill.
- Insert the documents into the clear shipping pouch and attach it to the FedEx Clinical Pak.
- Call FedEx at 1-800-463-3339 and say “Schedule a pickup.“
- When asked whether you are shipping a package, say “Yes.“
- Inform FedEx that you are using an International Waybill.
International Shipping
- Fill in your name, address, phone number, and signature fields on all three commercial invoices included in your kit.
- Place the invoices into the provided clear pouch and attach it securely to the Clinical Pak.
- Deliver the package to a FedEx or another preferred carrier for shipment. Return shipping fees may apply.
