Specimen Type: Urine and Sputum/Stool (Draw Location | How It Works | FAQs)

Important Note:

• Kit must be picked up and returned to Draw Station.
• Urine Sample:
  • For suspected Schistosoma haematobium, collect urine sample without preservatives at midday.
  • Peak egg secretion occurs between noon and 3PM.
  • Egg output is enhanced by physical exercise combined with fluid intake prior to urination.
  • Include any pertinent clinical and travel history on the test request form.
• Sputum or Stool Sample
  • Fresh feces should not be submitted.
  • Usual aseptic technique
  • Three specimens are recommended (each is charged).
  • Fecal specimens for parasitic examination should be collected before initiation of antidiarrheal therapy or antiparasitic therapy.
